The Chateau de Vincennes is a remarkable structure whose construction spans from the 14th to the 19th century. Its walls, medieval towers, the Holy Chapel and the tower, (the tallest in Europe) have been beautifully conserved. Refuge of the sovereign and the court during the religious wars and the Revoltution, Vincennes underwent significant transformations during the 17th century. Mazarin was the governor of the castle from 1652 until his death in 1661
